The Village: Transitional Housing for Homeless & Former Foster Youth (Ages 18–24)

A Safe Place to Begin Adulthood

Turning 18 is a major milestone. For many, it’s a time of excitement, independence, and possibility. But for youth aging out of foster care or facing unstable family situations, it can be a time of anxiety and uncertainty.

Most of these young adults often still in high school have limited savings, few job skills, and no transportation. They are expected to navigate adulthood alone, often without a stable place to live.

That’s where The Village steps in.

About The Village

Founded in 2006, The Village is IMPOWER’s Transitional Housing Program designed to prevent homelessness and provide wraparound support for homeless and former foster youth ages 18–24 in Central Florida.
At The Village, young adults live in a dorm-style residence and receive personalized support to:
  • Finish school
  • Build life and job skills
  • Develop self-sufficiency and confidence
With a caring staff and committed community volunteers, The Village offers more than a roof it provides a foundation.
